Boating, Biking & Fishing
Boating, biking, and fishing aren’t hobbies here — they’re the local culture.

Between the state parks, the Three Notch Trail for biking, boat ramps up and down the Patuxent and Potomac, and some of the best rockfish and blue crab waters on the Bay, outdoor recreation isn’t something you plan a trip for. It’s Tuesday.
Point Lookout State Park is a 1,000+ acre playground where the Bay meets the Potomac. At the southern tip of the county, Point Lookout occupies the spot where the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River converge. It’s part of the Atlantic Flyway, so it’s one of Maryland’s best birding spots, plus a boat ramp, protected paddling on Lake Conoy, beaches, and Civil War history layered right into the trails.
